Dynamic India: Getting Smart from Phones 3

In the 2nd post, EkaLore talked about key achievements of India’s Mobile device market. This post talks about the unique challenges that have to be solved in India, that are less common but quite common worldwide.

The Indian device market has some unique topics being worked out ‘in the street’. Carrying multiple devices to access multiple carriers is easing with multi-SIM/multi-carrier phones. Cultural interests in shopping (and payments convenience) and personal communications (where connecting in person can be inconvenient) also drives key app usage. This also implies digital identities are more critical to users than carrier-based identities communications focused like WhatsApp, FB and Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Skype, and Google; services like Snapchat, TikTok, MX Taka Tok, Moj, and YouTube). This consumer critical choice will be forced on Indian carriers in geographies with competition, geographies with less capable accessibility, and government efforts to continue extending availability.

Our next post will talk about what needs to be done to take advantage of this set of requirements and the experience of satisfying them.
