Things easily missed - Non-Enterprise IT Spend

Updated: Jun 22, 2022

There are pockets of highly specialized IT that may surprise everyone. Software that is key to logistics, supply chain, marketing, sales, and purchasing may have been procured and managed by separate groups, without centralized knowledge.

  • Specialized shipping and logistics software provided by the business partner (does your enterprise use Worldship, Ship Manager, or XPS Ship – otherwise known as UPS, FedEx, or a multi-carrier shipping solution)

  • Legal counsel/compliance folk may use Lexis/Nexis, WestLaw, or Delphion) by subscription

  • Payroll and HR (ADP, Ceridian, Paychex, BambooHR, Workday)

  • Travel and Expenses Management (SAP Concur, Amadeus)

  • Procurement relationship (SAP Ariba, Bellwether Supplier Network)

Every enterprise (even small to medium) have more than one of these types of software in use:

  • Not very many users

  • “High value – can’t stop now” functions (Payroll anyone?)

  •  Payments made outside of IT

A task for TODAY!  Find these in your enterprise. Make sure that they don’t become problems by asking a checklist of questions. That way if and when the organization needs to make changes, they will be prepared to continue operations.
