Post 18 — Transforming your business, Packaging

Jim and his team had pivoted most of their sales effort from retail to on-line. They’d tested and formulated new direct to consumer bundles. Now it was time to adjust packaging for this new channel.


Jim asked Susan to work with him on new packaging. She asked her design contacts to mock-up minimal packaging that could be easily stacked and sent direct to Consumer. The team liked the new designs. The distributor approved as well. So, there was no need to repackage for retail.


The Asian manufacturer was able to lower prices now that the packaging was simplified.


Meanwhile, fulfillment was running into problems with all of the changes. Jim wondered whether it was time for a new vendor. With so many other things changing was it wise to make a change?
