"Prepping for Take off" Post 7 — Transforming your business Getting Started with a Distributor Jim and his team’s efforts attracted interest from a major distributor. His goal was to work through a large distributor to supply the retail channel. The distributor’s email asking for a meeting excited Jim and the team. The distributor was excited about the new company’s product. It complemented and enabled other sales from the distributor’s product catalog. Cutting a deal with the distributor would solve the problem of selling to lots of retailers and limit the contacts needed to sell in volume. The distributor offered what Jim and his team considered a great price. Even better, the distributor pledged to promote the product all over the U.S. There were a few changes requested to the product’s packaging from the distributor's expertise, but these seemed completely reasonable to Jim. As they awaited the actual contract, Jim and his team thought about how to grow the company.
