Alien Sighting: Out of this world

EkaLore has been releasing analyses of various marketspaces which are targets of Alien Invasions. By Aliens, we mean overwhelming competitors who seem to come out of nowhere, break all the rules, and take most of the profit.

The global telecommunications market is dominated by colossal enterprises based globally and operating multi-nationally. In this release, we highlight a disruptive technology of consumer smartphone to satellite bypassing ground-based tower infrastructures.

Verizon has announced a partnership with Amazon/Kuiper to use satellite links to the LEO Kuiper constellation for 5G backhaul and services.

The first movers in direct to satellite-cellular technology have been Lynk Global and AST SpaceMobile.

Recent announcements from SpaceX/T-Mobile and Iridium are aimed at smartphone/cell-based services.

Other possible market participants include Telesat, ViaSat, GlobalStar, and mooted other constellations.

The SpaceX/T-Mobile partnership is starting with the goal of seamless global roaming even in areas not currently serviced by a carrier.

The Alien Invaders into the USD$1T communications markets are using technology updates, low-cost funding, and business models at a “super wholesale” level to avoid direct-to-consumer business. This change in technology allows a totally separate market service (cellular service without ground/tower access points). Enabling low-cost space launches is now the key to enabling this scramble of an Alien Invasion.

As more mobile manufacturers enable connections to these disruptive technologies, the more these Alien Invaders have a chance to gobble up market share and profit. If you’re facing an Alien Invasion and your marketplace and you’d like some tips on how to fight back let’s talk.

On the other hand, if you’d like to swoop in and steal your competitor’s lunch we should talk as well. www.ekalore.com/contact
