Post 19 - Creative Searching

In our last post, Board member Millie advised the CEO that pressure had gone as far as it could as a tactic. Telling the team to be creative would be more effective.

The CEO called the CIO first thing in the morning. “I know that you’re working as hard as you can on this search. It might be time to consider some alternative tactics. See what you can work out with HR.”

The CIO calls the HR VP and states it’s time to go above and beyond. The HR VP agrees to retain some contingency recruiters and warns that this will cost even more money soon. She leaves the CIO to get this “money for red-blooded talent” out of the CFO.

The HR VP asked the team lead to reach out to the usual suspects and to get some more results quickly. The team lead calls three companies and provides the updated description finally approved by the GC’s office and verbally adds some additional details about this particular search. All the outside recruiters warn that this will be a ‘premium’ search.

A couple of days later the team lead receives 10 resumes. Eight of them had already been submitted. The other two are similarly underqualified. The HR VP forwards these to the CIO with a note that it will take at last another week to get another selection set.

While the CIO is frustrated with the vendor results, the vendors are also struggling.
