In our last post, Millie, the CEO’s Trusted advisor, delivered a message about the importance of visible progress for the Board.
The CIO wasn’t quite sure how to take the visit from Millie. Her tone was upbeat and friendly, but the message seemed dire. He decided to remain optimistic. There had to be a good way out of the situation.
After the meeting, he stayed late to review the latest project plans and priorities. He could push back one of the data migration projects without creating any noticeable bottlenecks for their EPIC implementation. “It’s an endless project anyway,” he thought. An outside vendor managed the project. The three team members’ fees for one quarter were equal to three mid-level employee’s annual salaries. Pushing the project back by six months would free up considerable budget.
He instant messaged the CEO. He resolved the budget issue for the Senior Security Architect. Now he was confident that with this new higher salary, the search would proceed quickly.
Even though it was nearing 7 pm, the CEO replied within a few seconds. She was thrilled. “Good Job.”
Good news relieved some pressure. More money behind the search was about to yield results.
