Post 40. Dirt on the lawn

In our last post, the top candidate accepted the Hospital's offer.

The CIO was very busy over the next couple of days. He had many meetings both internal and with vendors. The hospital was negotiating with a new potential Laboratory Information vendor, and their EPIC implementation seemed to take an endless amount of attention by itself.

At the end of the day, the HR VP called the CIO to say “Our top candidate has a DUI, she forgot to tell us about.”

“Can we ignore it?” said the CIO?

“No. We’ve had high need searches like this before. The legal advice we’ve gotten has consistently come down on the side of dropping the candidate in this situation.

We still have two candidates. You seemed to like all three as I remember.”

“Call Candidate #2 ASAP. The CEO was already on fire over the last drop out. Call me or IM me the moment you get an update”

“Will do.”

It’s no one’s fault that the candidate “forgot” to mention a DUI. It still hurts. When a candidate is actually accepted it will feel so much better.
