The CIO arrived early that day to greet the new hire. He proudly took him around to key people within the department. Once that was through, the CIO went back to his office to work on some other urgent priorities.
He opened the door and was surprised to see someone waiting in his office. He couldn’t quite place the face, but she had an employee ID.
“Hi. We haven’t met, I’m new with HR. My name is Lisa N. I believe that the CEO will be joining us momentarily.”, She said.
“Oh really”, said the CIO.
At that moment, the CEO came strolling in the CIO’s door. “I’m sorry to tell you that your position has been eliminated. Lisa here will be processing your dismissal. She’ll walk you down to an office in HR. Thanks for your service.” And with that, the CEO turned and quickly walked down the hall.
Meanwhile, the new hire chatted with a few new co-workers at lunch. A couple of VPs stopped by and welcomed him to the hospital. They’d heard many good things about him. There were rumors there would be another new IT leadership announcement shortly.
